On a wet evening at Driffield School, the Driffield Schools’ Sports Partnership hosted their annual Girls Only Football Tournament, with six teams (made up from six schools) taking part.
Each school played against each other in a round robin contest with the top two schools playing in the final.
Driffield Junior School and Kilham entered 2 teams each, with North Frodingham, Garton, Sledmere and Middleton joining forces to make up the remaining two teams.
The event was full of end to end breaks as the goals were banged in from all distances and angles.
In the end, Driffield Junior faced Kilham in the final, with the scores all square at full time. As happened last year, the Cluster winners was decided on penalties with Kilham winning 2-1.
Many thanks must go to all the girls who participated, their parent/grandparents/siblings who supported, in the pouring rain, and to the teachers who gave up their time. Also well done to Mr Lapwith, Mr Wood and Mr Inns for refereeing – a job which often goes unrewarded!
