Visit the drop-in session for a range of advice, tips and resources to support you and your family.

Year 5 children have settled straight back into the New Year with lots of activities. Some learning continues about Space with the size of the planets and their order from the sun being a focus. Scaled models have been made with plasticine.

We are looking for scooters in good working order to enhance our playtime activities for the children. If Father Christmas replaced any scooters, we would be delighted to accept any old ones (please drop off at main reception).

Frequently Asked Questions:
What dates are the sessions held?
The sessions are held every Saturday between the 10th of January and the 21st of February 2026.
Sessions are held 10.30am-12.30pm and will include regular refreshment breaks.

Where are sessions held?
Sessions are held at Nafferton Methodist Church. Postcode: YO25 4JS. On-street parking is available. Please note that this venue is wheelchair accessible.

What do the sessions entail?
The sessions are mainly group based with many personalised 1-1 elements. All sessions are tailored to the children who attend the sessions.

My child has never played an instrument before, are they still able to attend?
Yes! All children are able to attend regardless of any previous experience in playing an instrument.

Does my child need to attend every session?
It is preferred that your child does attend every session in order for your child to get the best out of what the staff can offer. However, if you are unable to attend certain dates, please let us know.

Do I need to bring anything to the sessions?
No, everything for the sessions is provided free of charge.

How much do the lessons cost?
The lessons are free of charge thanks to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's funding!

Will my child need to join the band after attending the sessions?
No, there is no obligation for your child to join the band after the sessions. However, if the enjoy the sessions and would like to join the band, further information can be provided by any member of staff at any of the sessions.

What instruments can my child learn?
We are offering a wide range of both brass and percussion instruments for your child to try. Including, but not limited to: - Cornet - Trombone - Euphonium - Baritone - Horn - Drum kit - Glockenspiel - Xylophone

Do I need to stay with my child during the sessions?
It is preferred that responsible adults so stay with their child during the sessions. However, you will not personally be expected to take part in the sessions.

How do I know if my child has been accepted to attend the sessions?
All children are welcomed to and accepted to attend all of the sessions
