Last night saw our annual Dodgeball Tournament held at Driffield Leisure Centre.
Ten schools were represented, in what is our best and probably favourite event of the year. Schools were split into two groups of five, with each school playing the other schools in their group. A match consisted of three, two-minute games. Teams were awarded points for winning each game, with the winners of each group playing in a winner-take-all final!
In Group A, Hutton Cranswick finished top, winning all four of their matches. Garton finished second (3 wins), Burton Agnes third (2 wins) while Wetwang and Nafferton completed the group.
In Group B, Driffield Junior School and Kilham both won three matches. However, Driffield won more games as well as defeating Kilham in their game. Sledmere, Wolds Federation and North Frodingham completed a highly competitive group.
After the group stages, 4th played 4th, 3rd played 3rd, 2nd played 2nd and 1st played 1st in the final. Wetwang beat Wolds Federation to finish 7th and 8th respectively. Burton Agnes drew with Sledmere to finish joint 5th, Kilham and Garton drew to finish joint 3rd and the final was a spectacular event with another draw and the trophy shared between Hutton Cranswick and Driffield Junior School.
Many thanks to the teachers who gave up their time on the evening and to the Students from Driffield School who helped referee the fixtures and ensure/encourage fair play, honesty and great sportsmanship.
Next week sees our annual swimming gala on Wednesday 5th February.
