Fairtrade Friday - Roald Dahl Character Dress Up Day!

18 November 2024 (by Catherine Passmore (catherine.hakner))

On Friday 22nd November, DJS is holding its next Fairtrade day. We are commemorating the 60th anniversary of the publication of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We are doing this in two ways. On 22nd November, for a donation of £1, children will be encouraged to come dressed as a Roald Dahl character. We do not want this to be expensive for you and we will be giving the children lots of ideas in assembly as to how they can use what they already have in their wardrobe at home. There will be a spot prize for the most creative, home-made costume per year group. Children will also have the opportunity to buy a miniature bar of Fairtrade chocolate for 50p. In one of the miniature bars there will be a concealed golden ticket which will entitle the bearer to the big Roald Dahl themed prize.

We will be doing some Roald Dahl activities on the day. Children are encouraged to bring in a copy of their favourite Roald Dahl book to read.

Please pay your £1 donations for the dressing up via Arbor. If your child wishes to buy a bar of chocolate, they should bring the 50p in cash.

As usual, all money raised from this event will go to Mbedza Projects Support who will use it to buy books for the library at the Songani Centre.

Thank you for your support
