Football Tournament Report26 September 2024 (by Catherine Passmore (catherine.hakner)) |
Last night saw our annual cluster football tournament take place at Driffield School on a dark, dismal evening.
Nine schools attended, with teams split into two groups (details attached).
In some highly competitive games, Driffield Junior School and Nafferton Primary School emerged undefeated in their respective groups and played each other in the Large Schools Final.
In the final, Nafferton dominated for the majority of the game having several shots on goal but finding it hard to penetrate the Driffield goal. However, against the run of play, Driffield scored and then held on as Nafferton bombarded the Driffield goal.
In the Small Schools Final, Hutton Cranswick Primary School were all square with Kilham Primary School at the final whistle ... but Hutton Cranswick emerged triumphant in the sudden death, next goal wins!
Many thanks to the teachers who gave up their time to bring the teams on the evening. Also, thank you to the spectators who gave their support. A final thanks to the Driffield School boys who gave up their time to referee on the evening.
Hutton Cranswick progress to the East Riding Small Schools Final at Bridlington School on Tuesday 15th October and DJS progress to the East Riding Large Schools Final at Holderness Academy on Wednesday 16th October.
