Year 6 Football Report25 April 2024 (by Catherine Passmore (catherine.hakner)) |
Hi All
Tonight saw our sternest test of the year so far, with two games against a very accomplished passing team in Wilberfoss Primary School at the immaculate Driffield Town CC.
In our first match, Wilberfoss took an early lead. However, the boys put up a spirited response, almost leveling the score in the final minutes. Despite constant pressure at both ends, the game finished 1-0 to Wilberfoss.
The second match took a similar theme with Wilberfoss taking an early lead. They then scored a second, which could have seen the boys give up. However, the boys kept going and managed to pull a goal back. Time eventually ran out with the score 2-1.
That completes our 8 league matches, winning six and losing two.
A tense wait over the coming months will see if the Year 6 team can qualify for the East Riding Finals.
Many thanks to all the boys who have played over the season.
Thanks must also go to Mark Goddard (groundsman at the Rec) for allowing us to play on the best pitches in the area, and another big thanks to Mr Wilkinson for refereeing and Mrs Harrison for her support.
Regards
Andy Inns
