Mixed Rugby Tournament Results17 March 2023 (by Catherine Passmore (catherine.hakner)) |
Mixed Rugby results from last night.
Thursday evening saw our annual Mixed Tag Rugby Tournament, hosted at Driffield Rugby Club. This followed a really successful Girls Only Tag Rugby Tournament at the start of this half term.
Over 80 children, from twelve local schools, turned out on a cold but dry evening. Teams were split into two groups, with the winner of each group playing in a final, second playing second, etc.
It was great to see so much energy, enthusiasm and sportsmanship from all schools and participants, with schools loaning players to make up full teams.
In the end, Nafferton ended up victorious on the evening, beating Burton Agnes (awesome for such a small school) in the Grand Final. Congratulations to them and a well deserved victory.
Our very own Driffield Junior team (picture courtesy of Lisa Naylor) finishing fourth, losing to Garton PS in the 3rd/4th play-off.
As normal, a big thank you must go to all the teachers for giving up their precious time to run their respective teams.
Many thanks to Ali Mac, the referees and Driffield Rugby Club for hosting the event. Finally, a big thank you to all the parents, grandparents and siblings for their support. I’m sure all the boys and girls appreciated it.
Next Friday 24th March sees our annual trip to Nafferton Primary School for a KS2 Cross Country – no need to register, just bring as many athletes as you can - followed by a Hockey Tournament the following week on Wednesday 29th March at Driffield School.
Many thanks to everybody for their enthusiasm. Keep enjoying sport!
Regards
Andy Inns
