Congratulations.
On Thursday evening, the Driffield SSP ran their annual Dodgeball Tournament at Driffield Leisure Centre.
Teams from eight schools took part in a tournament that almost resembled the film, "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story".
Divided into two groups, each school played three games against the other schools in their group.
In Group A, Burton Agnes and Hutton Cranswick finished joint top and ended up playing a sudden death play-off game, with Burton Agnes winning with a great reaction catch. Garton and Nafferton battled it out for third and fourth spots in their group.
In Group B, Driffield Juniors were unbeaten, beating North Frodingham, Sledmere and Wolds Federation.
The final saw the underdogs, Burton Agnes, play the larger school, Driffield Juniors. Driffield won the first of the three match final but the second match was as close as it could have been with only 5 players left on the pitch on each side. Driffield emerged triumphant in the final match and took the trophy.
Many thanks to East Riding Leisure but also to the referees (Mr Lapworth, Mr Harrison, Miss Searle and Miss Smith) who were all under intense pressure to get their decisions correct. A big thank you must also go to the other teachers for giving up their time as well the parents, siblings and grandparents for their support.
